Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I create a standard spread sheet of presented issues that MUST be addressed. Each stopped issue is a point deduction that affects debaters negatively. I evaluate each issue personally by recognizing the quality of each point. I then check if the quality of sources are at a high standard. Presentation quality is not the highest priority to me.
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
Evidence is less of an issue here for me. I find that debaters should really be asking more ethical questions in LD, and communicating those ideas effectively is most important.
