Judging qualifications:
In junior high, I did prose interpretation for two years. Then, in high school I did poetry interpretation for three years. I advanced to region during my junior and senior year of high school. I also advanced to the state level my senior year, became a state medalist and a Texas Interscholastic Foundation League scholarship recipient. During my time in high school, I would help other’s weave their pieces, help them create their introductions, and critique their performances for their improvement. On a side note, I also preformed in One-Act Play and did live theatre for three years. In those years, I advanced to the state level and won various awards including a Best Actor Award at a UIL competition. I grew a deep passion for UIL Prose and Poetry interpretation and it became my favorite part of my high school career. As a UIL alumni, I firmly believe that it is my duty to pass on my knowledge that I acquired from my coaches and various judges to the new generations to come. I hope to do this by judging the new generation in order to further their own knowledge and help them become the best oral interpreter that they can be.
