Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 30
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I prefer to let the kids argue what they are most prepared for, though I have history judging Policy and Kritikal styles of debate, as well as engaging with these arguments myself. I would prefer that students speak clearly, and I think you should be able to defend your reasoning behind saying something, not just what you say. Remember that this is an educational activity with pedagogical value. Other than that, I want both teams to be respectful to each other and have fun.
