Judging qualifications:
I am currently employed as a juvenile probation officer in Victoria County. Throughout my high school career I participated in multiple invitational tournaments by participating in: CX debate, extemp, and poetry. I continue to utilize my speaking skills as I teach/train employees on a regular basis, testify in court weekly, and continue to judge tournaments for my previous teachers. I enjoy judging these events because without obtaining speaking skills I wouldn't be a successful individual.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 15
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: The affirmative must prove that their harms are truly harms and that there is a true issue at hand. The aff case must be strong and there needs to be a specific plan as well with solvency that truly can fix the issue at hand. As far as a negative team it is expected that they are able to pick apart the affirmative's case. I don't mind any DA's and would encourage them in the round.

LD

Rounds judged: 3
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I have judged LD debate over the past 10 years. I would strongly say that I am a noninterventionist judge and will only apply what issues the debaters bring up as far as arguments and support of their value criteria. The debaters should stress why there value and criteria can resolve as a whole.
