Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I am a true tab judge. I want the debater to do the work for me so that I do not have to intervene. I am old school in the sense that I tend to prefer traditional arguments but will listen and potentially vote on kritical/theoretical arguments if presented correctly. I am good with speed, I just highly value clarity. I want an impact calc throughout the round as well.
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I am not as familiar with LD as I am with the other events. I have judge at the regional and state level but still want the debaters to break down the round for me. I value clarity over speed and still need clear voters in the round.
