Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I enter the round with no bias and essentially act as though I have no knowledge of the debated topic. I look for relevant and current facts and appreciate proper debate procedure. I hit hard on dropped topics and improperly run CP's, DA's, and K's. If I can't understand you then you probably will not win.
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
Speak clearly and confidently if you want me to pay attention. Dot all your i's and cross your t's. LD is less about the cold hard facts for me. I want you to clearly tell me why I should side with you, why I shouldn't side with your opponent, and I want all aspects of the debate to be nice and clearly labeled for ease of flow.
