Judging qualifications:
During my high school tenure, I focused mainly on debating policy, becoming a captain and qualifying for state in Austin within my second year of joining the program. As such, I generally focused more on "out-of-the-box" arguments. This included running Ks, counter-plans, and theory-based affirmatives. I treated each debate round as a chance for me to enhance my knowledge, along with providing me the opportunity to showcase my skills as a competitive orator. You should have fun in each round and take risks.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I strongly believe that the outcome of a debate match should solely be based on the words exchanged during the round, excluding any bias or "inferences" made within arguments. With that being said, arguments during the match should be well-developed, backed by compelling evidence (time-frame of cards should not be a major factor of the round unless extremely outdated or proven to be untrue), and done so in a professional manner. As stated before, I tend to enjoy hearing Ks and counter-plans. However, I am willing to listen to any comprehensive argument that is supported by strong evidence along with analytics.
