Judging qualifications:
I was involved with theatre arts from 8th grade until college graduation. I was on my university's speech and debate team for two years in college competing all around the United States and England. I have won a speaking award at a national level and was a quarter-finalist at my last collegiate speech and debate competition for parli debate. I also judged high school speech and debate during my undergrad with Howard Payne University. As far as my personal judging philosophy goes, the student must speak clearly and must have well developed arguments. I do not like speakers that are rude or use profanities. I keep a rigorous flow and will vote for the team or person that has well planned and thought out argumentation, even if I personally disagree with what they are arguing.
Judging Philosophy

Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I like to see good clash between the teams. I also appreciate the team, or student, that speaks clearly and with confidence.
