Judging qualifications:
In all events listed above, I will first look for strong arguments. I do not believe the team with the most arguments should win, but the team with the strongest arguments will have my vote. I do not judge based on how "nice" a person sounds, but the content of what they are saying. I have watched all these events on a national scale and have competed in Congress at NSDA Nationals. I understand what it is like to be a competitor, though I do not hold a bias for any particular style. I do enjoy watching a more conversational style, but a competitor will not have my vote because they were or were not conversational.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: One of the most important parts of a policy round is weighing the advantages and disadvantages. In evaluating any argument it is important the impacts are made clear, this is especially true in arguments of topicality.

LD

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Philosophy:
In LD criterion is an important role in the debate, but should be upheld by good argumentation through both aff and neg. I am a flow judge but will base the winner of the round on key arguments made.
