Judging qualifications:
I have been coaching at Round Rock Christian Academy for 11 years.
I coach all events except CX, but I was a policy debater in high school and I have judged the event in the various leagues of Texas as well as at NSDA nationals into the out rounds.
I work with students writing debate cases and oratories as much as I work with students putting together poetry programs or blocking an acting event.
Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I consider myself a traditional stock issue judge. I will adapt to more progressive styles of delivery. However, I am not impressed with evidence cramming, jargon-spewing, unintelligent spreading.
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I'm a traditional LD judge. I expect a value/criterion to be the weighing mechanism for the round. I expect the use of evidence and argumentation. Please note thatis LD is not policy for one.
