Judging qualifications:
I have spent a good amount of time over the past 6 years involved with debate. I was a captain my senior year and then taught/coached on the high school the two years after graduation. I have judged over the past 4 years at 3-4 tournaments a year, generally on the invitational level. I am a strong follower of LD as it separates debate from general day to day arguing by removing personal-emotions. I have seen someone with a stutter speech impediment write and perform the best debate I've ever witnessed so, my philosophy focuses on the ideas over the speech ability. This is dependent on the participant attempting to perform professionally to the best of their ability.

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Philosophy:
Communication skills, on occasion, are limited by factors outside of the participant's control. This results in my focus more so on the resolution as long as the participators attempt to succeed on communication to the best of their abilities.
