Georgian Cordell

Current high school:

Currently coaching?: Yes

Conference: 2A

Number of years coached: 6

Number of tournaments judged: 0

High school attended:
Freedom HIgh School

Graduated high school: 1985

Participated in high school: Yes

Participated in college: No

Judging qualifications:
My style of judging follows Policy Maker although I can lean to the Tabula Rasa style depending on the speaker and their persuasiveness. I have taught high school 10+ years and have assisted with speaking events by helping students practice and have learned to love the sport of debate. I also have many yearly career years of working with law, which is a form of debate when arguing your side of the case.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 1
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: My paradigm tends to rely on policy making and weighing the advantages over the disadvantages to your case. If a student can show that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, then I am more likely to lean to your view. However, I do find that Topicality is important to the issue. If you speak and are unable to address the topic, then just because you present a well balanced idea, does not mean you get to win. To many times speakers present an argument, but the topicality of that argument is flawed.
