Judging qualifications:
I was co-founder and vice-president of the UT Arlington debate and speech team when I was a freshman. I since have taken a break from debate but as a philosophy major at the University of Texas at Austin, I have remained very interested in almost all topics that are debated at these UIL events. To refresh myself with the world of debate I have read numerous judging materials provided by the National Speech and Debate Association (https://www.speechanddebate.org/judge-training/) and have versed myself with the UIL LD and CX guidelines. I hope to bring a fresh face to Texas debate judging and LD debate in particular.

Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I look for two key components in an effective LD debater. First, how clearly and effectively are they able to articulate the inherent importance of their values above that of their opponents. Second, are they able to convincingly attach their criterion and contentions to their values.
