Judging qualifications:
In High School I competed in numerous invitational, district, and regional meets for Lincoln-Douglas Debate, as well as CX and UIL Congress. I also have experiencing evaluating for the YMCA Youth and Government State Conferences. I’m now a student at UT Austin studying Government and Plan II Honors, as well as a Legislative Intern with a lobbying firm based in Austin. Throughout my time competing in debate I won several speaker awards as well as occasional medals for my participation in Lincoln-Douglas debate. I have a love for speech events and debate that influenced my choice of studies, I hope I can encourage students to enjoy these events as well.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I prioritize relevance and pertinence of evidence as well as clear and concise presentation skills. A level of conceptualization of relevant ideas and organization of prepared material is also important.

LD

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
Clear relation between value and criterion is necessary. A case should be balanced, and argumentation should be accurate and substantive during rebuttal. A case with clear and well-presented evidence is favored over one with overly complex, poorly argued, or poorly communicated evidence.
