Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I debate in the 80s and still hold to much of the traditions on the structure and policy making. I am open to listen to other styles of arguments. You should know that these other types of arguments require a high level of burden of proof.
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
Framework is important. Framework alone cannot win the debate, but the lense is very important to my evaluation of the other portions of the debate. Yo must debate the topic, despite your feelings about a particular topic. "Off-case" arguments may be acceptable as long as you filter them under a framework and they are intrinsically linked to the topic or the particular affirmative.
