Judging qualifications:
I was a high school debater that was very competitive on the circuit where I made it to CX Semi-Finals, Nationals, and Congress state. I won almost every tournament I went to my senior year in CX debate and would place in extemp and congress as well. The summer before my senior year, I went to UTNIF debate camp in Austin, Tx where I spent a month and a half working with some of the smartest and competitive debaters in the country and use a lot of that knowledge in my coaching or judging skills now. I love coaching and did it my first two years of college for Lubbock High School and Andrews High School. I quit coaching due to me being on the mock trial and moot court teams for Texas Tech University. I judge debate in my free time and try to help students where I can. I also was on the parli team for Texas Tech for a year and a half so I got really good at thinking on my feet, the team atmosphere just wasn't for me.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 4
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: Overall, I will let students run whatever they feel like whether it be a critique or a disadvantage. My main concern is that I want clear speaking for everyone to understand and clear links. If I don't understand your link or I feel like it is phony, I'm not going to buy your argument. Debate is about expanding your knowledge of argumentation and you can't do that when others can't participate. I am fine with spreading but make sure that you are clear and pronounce your words or else I will say clear. I would like a benefit to a counterplan if you run one, there must be a reason why to choose the CP over the aff or else I just trust that the aff would be some form of beneficial and vote aff. I would like a critque that actually applies to the debate and shows what in the aff has an issue or what we can do better. I don't consider myself a policy maker but I do want an aff that does create something better or changes the world we are in today to make it some form of net better. In high school, I read a critical aff every round about how ethnocentric the U.S. is, Cap K every neg round and went for basic case defense in the 2NR. I don't care what your strategy is, just help it make sense to me and make it sound clear.
