Judging qualifications:
I have judged CX debate since 1975. I coached at Bridge City and Little Cypress-Mauriceville HS 14 years. Had TFA and UIL State teams several years. I expect speaking to be intelligible, understandable and flow able. C/Ps are acceptable as long as they are properly presented and defended. Same with kritiks. Presenter must understand and be able to properly explain kritik. C/Ps cannot violate T Standards. Debate is judged on these things PLUS the aff must win all 5 “stock” issues and defeat plan attacks. Speaking must be acceptable!

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 4
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I am a stock issue judge. I will judge on the Stock issues and the off case. C/Ps and kritiks are acceptable. Speaking style must be intelligible and understandable. Theory arguments need to have the proper format and be properly explained.

LD

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
If aff presents no plan, how can I vote for an off-case neg.? Value and criterion debate is essential. That is the Stosis is of the round! Do not fail here! I have judged LD debate since 1997. Resolution of issues is also important. If you don’t win the contentions, how do you achieve the criterion?
