Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence is more important than quality of evidence
Paradigm: I am a traditional policymaker judge and like a debate with good clash. I'm not a fan of generic links, this is a debate that relies on prior research and evidence. I will not vote for theory arguments because I like to weigh the evidence presented by both sides. I eventually will evaluate which team has a better impact cal and would prefer that each team presents why their impacts outweigh.
LD
Approach: Communication skills are more important than resolution of substantive issues
Philosophy:
I am a lay judge and I will usually vote on which team presents logical topicality arguments. I prefer a much slower debate, I think it allows for a more persuasive and all-around better style of debating.
