Judging qualifications:
Hi, my name is Nathan. I am a passionate debater who loves all speaking events. In 2021 I placed 1st at district for LD Debate, 1st In regional For LD Debate, and was a state competitor. I also competed at the regional level in persuasive speaking. I believe that the Debater that has the better argument should be the one who receives the ballot, however if the presentation is not clear and easy to understand, then the argument naturally becomes meaningless.
Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: The advantages of a case have to outweigh the disadvantage's of the opponents case. Furthermore, the advantages have to be appropriately conveyed through the evidence presented.
LD
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
My LD judging paradigm is Tabula Rasa, and I believe that most important part of LD is connecting your value to your criterion. So most of the attacks should be aimed at the opponents value, and how the contentions relate to the value.
