Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 5
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills are more important than resolution of substantive issues
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: In terms of labeling my style, I would most closely align with tab, however, I do have traditional leanings towards stock issues and traditional CX debate. I’m not a raving speed fan but can follow. The main reason I have minor issues with speed is because it’s not an effective form of communication means in the real world. One may learn how to quickly form arguments and attack issues, which is a fantastic skill, but using speed in the real world is generally counterproductive and arguably teaching ineffective real world communication skills. In the end, I’m thoughtful and fair which I imagine are two vital components of good judges.
