I did Extemp and congress when I was in high school at the local, state, and national level. I have been a judge for the past 2 years and have judged many UIL District and Region tournaments on top of NSDA and TFA ones. I judge LD and extemp almost every single weekend.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: N/A

LD

Rounds judged: 30 +
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I firmly believe that the student that can turn key parts of an opponents case is likely to win the round. Further more proving a value through strong evidence and impacts will likely make me vote in that direction. I really like when students write my ballot for me, tell me as a judge why you win by outlining arguments you won.
