Judging qualifications:
I believe in the integrity of speech as a speaking/communication event. What a speaker brings to the table in terms of reasoning, evidence and argumentation are important, but crafting the communication is key. The best speakers balance both and understand the relationship between craft and content.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 3
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I am primarily an old-school stock issues judge who expects well-communicated arguments not a regurgitation of non-applied briefs.

LD

Rounds judged: 3
Approach: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Philosophy:
LD requires a strong balance between reasoning and substance. While a round does not have to be evidence-laden, evidence is important and when left with a difficult decision a well applied and interpreted cr cards can make the difference
