Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I hold the debaters to the resolution as worded, but will entertain arguments that seem like a long stretch if the debater is able to convincingly communicate their argument's connection to the resolution. If the teams' arguments and delivery are equally convincing I will award winner based on sportsmanship.

LD

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
In LD I favor debaters who are able to fairly compare and contrast their value with that of their opponent. Debaters who are able to show that their value satisfies the criterion of their opponent are particularly successful.
