Judging qualifications:
I was a debater throughout my entire high school career. I did LD Debate in 2012-13 and CX Debate from 2013-16. I qualified for State CX in the 2013-14 school year, the same year I won District (with my partner, of course). I qualified as a state alternate in the 2014-15 school year.
I also participated in Persuasive Extemp from 2012-16 and made it to regionals 3 out of 4 times. I was District champion in the 2015-16 school year.
Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quantity of evidence and quality of evidence are of equal importance
Paradigm: I look for competency of stock issues that is well-executed within the round. All forms of argumentation are acceptable to me as long as the appropriate rules are followed. Conjecture and hearsay are unacceptable, all arguments for or against the resolution are valid if they adequately sourced and sustained throughout the entire round. My decision on which side is the winner is based on how well a side sustained their argumentation and explained their rationale most compellingly.
