I participated in Speech and Drama competitions throughout high school. I studied as a Theatre Arts major and Speech
Communications minor where I took an extensive amount of courses to include Introduction to Speech, Persuasive Speech,
Interpersonal Communications, Business Communications, Organizational Communications, Beginning Acting, Filming,Directing, and Oral Interpretation. I have taught Speech Communications to 4H students in high school. I have been judging for numerous years in Prose/Poetry, Persuasive Speech, Impromptu Speaking, Oral Interpretation, Duet Acting, and CX/LD debates.I competed in Prose, Poetry, Debate, and One Act Play competition in high school and I enjoy mentoring students and judging.

Judging approach: Stock Issues
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: Logic and effective communication skills are vital. I keep track of fillers during the debate like ums, uh, "like," you know, etc. Also, I check for the flow of the debate.
