Judging qualifications:
I was the Captian of my Debate team from 2017-2020. During this time I was ranked top seven for LD debate in 4a UIL in 2019. I was a finalist for Congressional UIL 4a State in 2019, and I attended CX state in 2017. After graduating high school I joined my Universities Mock Trial organization, which I am a current Captian of, and have allowed me to enhance my argumentation skills. Overall, debate is a means for High Schoolers to enhance their argumentation and speaking ability. It is also a means for students to learn about new topics, which can only be done when the focus remains on quality data.

Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 5
Judging approach: Other (please explain below)
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I am a traditional CX judge who is open to hearing theory/K debate but it must be explained well and clearly understood by the competitors. I like a topicality debate, however, competitors will not win solely off of topicality. I don't mind spreading, however, if speaking ability is overall harmed by spreading then I would rather spreading not be used.

LD

Rounds judged: 8
Approach: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Philosophy:
I am a traditional judge and like a good value/criterion debate. I do not think that K debate belongs in LD. Overall competitors that are able to master both speaking ability and argumentation will be most likely to win my ballot.
