Judging qualifications:
With excitement, I would like to submit my interest to judge events. I have always been passionate about UIL speech events and I know it creates better students and stronger adults. My personal journey, competing in high school, provides me knowledge on the qualifications needed for this important role. Though I don't remember how far I advanced, I consistently placed with the top performers in prose yet dabbled in Extemp. and One Act.
Having been on the receiving end of judges' evaluations on many occasions, I appreciate the significance of constructive, insightful, and helpful feedback. As mentioned, these events have instilled in us competitors a commitment to fairness and consistency, upholding integrity of competition. I understand the pivotal role judges play in offering not just critique but also support and motivation, building competitors' long term confidence and self-esteem.
I would be so pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to the success of future speech competitors and to help nurture the next generation of talented speakers....and judges.
