Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach: Tabula Rasa
Policy priority: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: I come in Tabula Rosa.I expect the affirmative team’s plan to be featured clearly during the debate. The negative needs to prove that the affirmative fails to meet at least one issue in order to win. Evidence must be clearly presented for issues. The debaters must tell me what is different from their opponents I want to hear clear REASONS. If it's important, SAY it clearly and clash, clash, and clash.
LD
Approach: Communication skills are more important than resolution of substantive issues
Philosophy:
LD is 1000 % persuasive. their voice, their eye contact, their perspective should come through LOUD and CLEAR. The negative should do the same for status quo. CLASH CLASH CLASH...in a genteel manner. FACTS are FACTS and I do want to hear at least three quotes from sources for either side. The winner will use all of the above to influence my vote
