Judging Philosophy

CX

Rounds judged: 0
Judging approach: Policy Maker
Policy priority: Communication skills and resolution of substantive issues are of equal importance
Evidence philosophy: Quality of evidence is more important than quantity of evidence
Paradigm: Quality of evidence and material of debate is always going to be first. From my experience in debate, speed of delivery weighs heavily on my judging decisions. It is not fair to give your debate too rapidly and it discredits the integrity of your argument. Most importantly, the affirmative has to prove the adoption of the resolution being the best decisions for the United States. Reasoning is important in this aspect as well as practical application. I want to see full thorough thought and dedication in proving your side. Overall, support your case and articulate your ideas with effective communication and implementation.

Rounds judged: 0
Approach: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Philosophy:
Please give me an intense quality argument over a high quantity of arguments. Focus on your case and the depth of it rather than catching your opponent on a technicality, that's my job. I care most about who can resolve the central issue we are debating the best and provide practicality to their debate. Please provide a very logical case and communicate it effectively. Rapid speed of delivery is a big NO in my eyes. Give your argument credibility by going slow and presenting only relevant important information. Finally, I am a very big rules and rule book judge. In order to effectively win a round you must follow the rules and not be mean to your opponent. These are things I value very highly.
