Judging qualifications:
High school debate was my whole life when I was in high school, so I was deeply involved in all the events in which I participated: LD, Extemp, Congress, and Impromptu. LD was my specialty. I continued to debate in college competing internationally in BP/Worlds debate. After college, I coached Congress for 2 years at a high school in Maryland. I have extensive debate experience and am very passionate about it. I am a current law student at UT and compete in moot court competitions, which have some similarity to debate.
Judging Philosophy
CX
Judging approach:
Policy priority:
Evidence philosophy:
Paradigm:
LD
Approach: Resolution of substantive issues is more important than communication skills
Philosophy:
I am a traditionalist when it comes to LD -- I like the value and criterion clash the most. I analyze the round based on which value/criterion win -- under the winning framework, who best achieves it? It is entirely possible that somebody could win the framework but lose the round if their opponent's contentions better uphold the framework than they do. I can follow spreading but I don't love it--the less like policy debate and the more like traditional LD, the better for me.
