“Home is where you want to stay longer,” and for recent UIL hire Rebecca Kinz, this statement rings true. After senior music administrative associate Patty Esfandiari retired this winter, Kinz stepped in as a UIL employee for a second time.
“I have always dreamed about working back at UIL again,” Kinz said. “I worked with Patty when I was an intern for the music department my last year in college.”
Before returning to the League, Kinz was the performance librarian for the Butler School of Music at The University of Texas.
“While working there I heard that Patty was retiring and I began watching the UT website for the job posting,” Kinz said. “It was a true blessing when the position opened up.”
Kinz worked in music as intern and also trained with Patty for a few months when she began this position.
“I was fortunate to intern with UIL Music and I already knew what to expect when applying for this position,” she said. “I am still learning a lot of new things, but my favorite so far is helping plan events and seeing it all come together in the end.”
Outside of work Kinz loves spending time with her husband and four-year-old son Jude.
"I realize how fast my son is growing up,” Kinz said. “I want to be with him every second, so I do not miss anything.”
Kinz has transitioned well and says there “haven’t been any surprises yet.”
“I love my job,” she said. “I get along with everyone great. They have all been very welcoming.”
