AUSTIN— The girls Conference 5A Region 1 soccer regional semifinal and final rounds will be moved from the Scharbauer Sports Complex in Midland to Northwest ISD Stadium, the University Interscholastic League announced Wednesday.
“All four qualifying girls teams for this regional tournament are from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex,” said Dr. Mark Cousins, UIL Director of Athletics. “We re-evaluated the regional tournament location in an effort to be sensitive to the additional travel cost and loss of school time associated with traveling long distances.”
The boys Conference 5A Region 1 regional tournament will still be played in Midland. The dates of the girls tournament will remain the same, but game times are still to be determined, and will be updated on the official UIL playoff bracket on the UIL website when available.
