FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The UIL Anabolic Steroid Testing Report for the fall of 2010 has been released by the UIL. The statistical report of the testing program that took place between September 2010 and December 2010 includes information such as the total number of tests conducted, the number of positive results and the breakdown of student-athletes tested by sport and gender.

Of the 2,083 tests conducted, there was one (1) confirmed positive result and one (1) protocol violation.  The protocol violation resulted from a selected student that did not report for testing.

Of the 135 schools where tests were conducted, 1,333 boys were tested representing 11 sports and 750 girls were tested representing 10 sports. The sports with the most student-athletes tested were football for males (469) and soccer for females (125).  The total number of student-athletes tested for each sport, includes multiple sport participants. Therefore, the individual sport numbers will differ from the total number of athletes tested. Overall, there were 649 freshmen student-athletes tested, the most of any grade level.

A multisport athlete will be represented more than once in this list.  Therefore, the individual sport numbers will differ from the total number of athletes tested.
