FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUSTIN, TX-The Irving High School boys basketball team will have its 10 previously forfeited games reinstated, and will advance to the playoffs after decisions were handed down by the Hearing Officer of the UIL State Executive Committee Friday.
Irving High School appealed the decision of the District 6-5A Executive Committee requiring Irving to forfeit all games in which an ineligible player participated. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, the UIL Hearing Officer ruled that the student is ineligible, but the team will have its previous forfeits reinstated and continue in the basketball playoffs.
Additionally, the Irving High School boys basketball coach was suspended from coaching for the remainder of the season and was issued a public reprimand and two years probation for failing to properly verify the student's eligibility.
