FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUSTIN, TX— The 2010 UIL state football championships for all conferences will be held at pre-determined locations, the UIL announced Tuesday.
In October 2009, the UIL Legislative Council unanimously passed a measure to have the Conference 1A-4A football state championships at pre-determined sites beginning in the 2010-11 school year as is done for Conference 5A. The UIL has determined the site for the Conference 5A state football championships since 2006.
“We’re excited about hosting great high school football games at some of the premiere venues in the state,” said UIL Director of Athletics Cliff Odenwald. “We look forward to working closely with all the venues in creating a first-class championship experience for the schools, fans and students involved in the games. We are so grateful to be able to create an incredible experience for our student-athletes.”
The UIL worked in conjunction with the Jones family and Cowboys Stadium, Debbie Weems and the athletic department of Mansfield ISD and Jerry Gayden and the athletic department of Abilene ISD to make this schedule possible.
