FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Monday to hand down decisions on varsity eligibility of student-athletes, rule on appeals and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.

Student-athletes from Katy High School, Tyler High School and Duncanville High School were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committees.

A student-athlete from McKinney North High School was granted an appeal for varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that the student did not repeat a grade for athletic purposes.

Alvord High School coach Tony Brazeal was issued a two-year probation, a public reprimand and a two-game suspension effective immediately for an ejection from a contest while on probation.

Houston Clear Lake High School coach Andy Gaworecki was denied his appeal of an ejection from a contest. Gaworecki was placed on one year of probation, issued a public reprimand and will be required to complete additional training.

In other action, Corpus Christi Moody High School was granted an appeal of forfeiture of baseball contests. It was determined that the school would not have to forfeit any baseball games in which an ineligible player participated.
