FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN— The State Executive Committee of University Interscholastic League met Monday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.

Student-athletes from Northside O'Connor and Corpus Christi Calallen were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committees.

Student-athletes from Malakoff High School were granted appeals for varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties it was determined that the students did not change schools for athletic purposes.

Wylie High School coach Chris Benzer was issued a public reprimand for failure to complete paperwork for a student-athlete prior to allowing the student to participate in a contest.

Former Fort Bend Ridge Point coach Jody Albright must appear before the committee prior to returning to coaching at a UIL member school.

Coach Mike Eckles from Jacksonville High School was issued a public reprimand and three years probation for an ejection from a contest while on probation.

Coach Mike Gallegos of Pilot Point High School was denied his appeal of an ejection from a contest. Gallegos was issued a public reprimand, one year of probation and will be required to complete additional training.
