AUSTIN, Texas – State Farm will serve as presenting sponsor of the UIL Lone Star Cup, a prestigious award that recognizes outstanding high schools based on their overall team achievement in a variety of sanctioned academic, athletic and music competitions.
“As a longtime corporate sponsor of the UIL, we are pleased to have State Farm as presenting sponsor of a trophy that honors the best overall programs in the state of Texas,” said Dr. Charles Breithaupt, Executive Director of the UIL.
The UIL Lone Star Cup will be presented to six high schools (one in each of the six UIL conferences) based on their team performance in sanctioned UIL academic, athletic and music events. The winning schools in each conference receive the UIL Lone Star Cup trophy and a $1,000 scholarship. All UIL member high schools in good standing are included in the contention for the UIL Lone Star Cup. The UIL Lone Star Cup program began during the 1997-98 school year.
