UIL All-Century Baseball Teams Announced

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX— The University Interscholastic League, as part of its Centennial Celebration, has announced the UIL All-Century Baseball Teams as selected by the fans. Fans cast more than 4,300 votes for their favorite baseball players in Texas high school history.

For the past 100 years, UIL athletes have given fans some of the most memorable and exciting moments in sports. The UIL would like to recognize these outstanding performers as it celebrates a century of excellence.

The UIL All-Century Baseball Teams as selected by the fans include:

First Team

Pitcher - Nolan Ryan, Alvin

Pitcher - Roger Clemens, Spring Woods

Catcher - Adam Dunn, New Caney

First Base - Lance Berkman, New Braunfels Canyon

Second Base - Chuck Knoblauch, Houston Bellaire

Third Base - Kelly Gruber, Austin Westlake

Shortstop - Ernie Banks, Dallas Washington

Outfielder - Carl Crawford, Houston

Outfielder - Brooks Kieschnick, Corpus Christi Carroll

Outfielder - Hunter Pence, Arlington

SECOND Team

Pitcher - Adrian Alaniz, Sinton

Pitcher - Josh Beckett, Spring

Catcher - Taylor Teagarden, Carrollton Creekview
