AUSTIN, TX - The UIL State Soccer Tournament will have a new home in 2005, the UIL announced Monday. The 16-team tournament, held at Georgetown High School for the last seven years, will move to Round Rock ISD stadium this school year.
“We enjoyed a great relationship with Georgetown ISD for many years, and offer our sincere gratitude to their coaching staff for their work throughout the years. We know that the tournaments could not have been as successful without the dedication of Georgetown ISD and its staff,” said UIL Assistant Director and Athletic Director Dr. Charles Breithaupt.
“While the UIL continues to enjoy a great relationship with Georgetown, we felt it was time to take advantage of the state of the art facility in the Austin area,” said UIL Athletic Coordinator and Soccer Tournament Director Mark Cousins. “Round Rock ISD has one of the best high school sports facilities in Texas, and for the UIL to be able to offer its amenities and atmosphere to our participants at the state level is exciting.”
