FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX— The University Interscholastic League has launched its redesigned website, which is now located at www.uiltexas.org. The updated site embodies the commitment of the UIL to make information about the league more quickly and easily accessible, and brings a valuable resource to school personnel, students and parents.

“We’re trying to be current with the technology that’s out there and keep the site attractive,” said UIL Executive Director Dr. Charles Breithaupt. “The new site gets people where they need to go more quickly, and I think the attractiveness of the site will bring people to the page more often.”

Annually, more than a million visitors go to the UIL website to access information on Texas high school academic, athletic and music contests. The new website is now categorized by these three main concentrations in order to simplify navigation and make the site more user-friendly.

In addition to improved organization of content, the website is more dynamic than its predecessor with a featured content area, recent news feeds and multimedia capabilities. News and updates of UIL events will also be more accessible through the UIL’s official publication, the Leaguer.

“The new website also will allow us to add new elements to the Leaguer,” said Jeanne Acton, journalism director and managing editor of the Leaguer. “We will now have videocasts, audio slideshows and more. We have a great team working hard to expand our coverage and add this new media.”

This is the third major revision to the website since its creation in 1996.
