AUSTIN, TX- The Medical Advisory Committee of the University Interscholastic League, serving as a permanent advisory committee to the UIL Legislative Council, will meet Sunday, October 2 at 9 a.m. at the Austin Marriott at the Capitol.
The Committee will address concerns and issues regarding students' health and safety. Any recommendations from the Committee must be approved by the UIL Legislative Council and the Commissioner of Education before becoming policy.
The Committee will discuss several important issues including the following:
ο Steroid Education Initiatives
ο Illegal Anabolic Steroid Testing Survey
ο Pre-participation Physical Examination Issues
ο Pre-Season Athletic Practice Regulations
ο Students Displaced by Hurricanes
ο UIL Injury Surveillance System
The Medical Advisory Committee Meeting is an open meeting, and all interested parties are welcome to attend. An agenda for Sunday's meeting can be found on the UIL website at www.uil.utexas.edu .
