FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, Texas — The 2016 UIL Robotics State Championships: FIRST Division pilot program will take place July 28-30, 2016 at the Austin Convention Center. This marks the first time the UIL has sponsored a robotics championship.

The UIL Robotics: FIRST Division will have two programs, FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). More information on the UIL Robotics State Championships can be found online at http://www.uiltexas.org/academics/stem/robotics.  

The schedule is as follows:

Thursday, July 28

10:00 AM       Doors Open

1:00 PM          FTC Opening Ceremonies

1:30 PM          FTC Qualification Matches

7:00 PM          FTC Alliance Selections

8:00 PM          Doors Close

Friday, July 29

7:30 AM         Doors Open

8:00 AM         FTC Opening Ceremonies

8:15 AM         FTC Eliminations Matches

9:00 AM         University Row Open (Closes at 3:00 PM)

11:00 AM       FTC Awards Ceremonies

1:00 PM          FRC Opening Ceremonies

1:30 PM          FRC Qualification Matches

8:00 PM          Doors Close

Saturday, July 30

7:30 AM         Doors Open

8:00 AM         FRC Opening Ceremonies

8:30 AM         FRC Qualification Matches

11:30 AM       FRC Alliance Selections

1:30 PM          FRC Eliminations Matches

4:30 PM          FRC Awards & Closing Ceremonies

5:00 PM          Competition Ends

MEDIA CREDENTIALS

Media outlets planning to cover the UIL Robotics State Championships should submit an online media credential request by noon Wednesday, July 27.  The Robotics Media Credential Request form can be found online at: https://www.uiltexas.org/form/media-credentials/request.php?sport=robotics.

High school journalism and media departments at UIL member schools planning to cover the UIL Robotics State Championships should submit an online media credential request using the Robotics Student Media Credential Request form at: https://www.uiltexas.org/form/media-credentials/request.php?sport=robotics&type=student.
