FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUSTIN, TX—The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Wednesday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student athletes.
Student athletes from Avery High School, Burnet High School, Frisco Heritage High School, Laredo Nixon High School and Lueders-Avoca High School were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous decision of the district executive committees.
A student athlete from Frisco Heritage High School was granted an appeal for varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that the student did not change schools for athletic purposes.
Corpus Christi Calallen High School self-reported the use of an ineligible player during two football games. Corpus Christi Calallen High School was then granted an exception to the rule requiring forfeiture of a contest when an ineligible player participates. It was determined that the school exercised sufficient diligence in determining the eligibility of the student athlete and Corpus Christi Calallen will not have to forfeit any contests.
