AUSTIN, TX- An Irving High School student athlete was granted eligibility while a San Antonio Reagan student athlete will remain ineligible for varsity athletics due to decisions handed down by the State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League Tuesday.
After hearing testimony from all interested parties, the State Executive Committee unanimously granted the appeal of the District 6-5A Executive Committee decision ruling the Irving High School student ineligible. The State Executive Committee's decision allows the student to participate in athletics at the varsity level.
Conversely, a student athlete from San Antonio Reagan High School will not be eligible for varsity athletics for the remainder of the school year after the State Executive Committee upheld the ruling of the District 26-5A Executive Committee.
In other action, Uvalde High School coach Michael Hernandez was issued a public reprimand, two years probation and a two-game suspension to be served at the next two home basketball games for being ejected from a contest while on probation.
