FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Wednesday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes, hear an appeal of ejection from a contest and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.

Llano High School coach Jerry McSherry, Dallas Molina coach Matthew Agonis, and League City Clear Falls High School coach Mike Balla were denied appeals of ejections from contests, and were issued the automatic penalty of a public reprimand, one-year probation, and additional training.

Conroe The Woodlands High School coach Tim Borths was issued three years probation, a public reprimand and additional training for ejection from two contests.

Harlingen Cano Freshman Campus coach Matthew Benavidez was issued a public reprimand, three years probation, and training in addition to a two-game suspension issued by the school for an ejection while on probation.

Student-athletes from Belton High School, Klein Oaks High School, Bishop High School and Southlake Carroll High School were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous decision of the district executive committees.

A student-athlete from Grandview High School was granted an appeal for varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that the student did not change schools for athletic purposes.
