AUSTIN, Texas — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.

A student-athlete from Wichita Falls Hirschi High School and a student-athlete from Brookesmith High School were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committees.

The following schools were issued penalties for fighting with opponents on Feb. 6:

Case AA – Karnes City vs. San Antonio Cole

Karnes City head basketball coach Kyle Armstrong and San Antonio Cole head basketball coach Noe Cantu were both issued two years probation, and a public reprimand.

One Karnes City student-athlete and four San Antonio Cole student-athletes were issued suspensions.

Both teams were issued suspensions for the rest of the regular season and each program was issued two years probation and a public reprimand.

Case BB – West Columbia vs. Wharton

West Columbia junior varsity head basketball coach Thomas Josey and Wharton junior varsity head basketball coach Julius Carter were both issued two years probation, and a public reprimand.

Junior varsity student-athletes from both schools were given an additional one-game suspension and varsity student-athletes involved were given a one-game suspension.

Both teams were issued suspensions for the rest of the regular season and each program was issued two years probation and a public reprimand.

Case CC - Dallas Conrad vs. Dallas Kimball

Dallas Conrad head basketball coach Richard Johnson and Dallas Kimball head basketball coach Michael Pittman were both issued two years probation, and a public reprimand for their involvement in an altercation between the two teams.

Three Dallas Conrad student-athletes and two Dallas Kimball student-athletes were issued suspensions. One additional Dallas Kimball student-athlete was suspended for the rest of the basketball season, two track meets, two volleyball contests, five basketball games next season and was placed on one year probation.

Both teams were issued two years probation and a public reprimand.

Case DD - DeSoto vs. Duncanville

In addition to the penalties and suspensions issued by school administration and the District Executive Committee, DeSoto head basketball coach Chris Dyer and Duncanville head basketball coach Corey Chism were both issued two years probation, and a public reprimand for their involvement in an altercation between the two teams.

Both teams were issued two years probation and a public reprimand.
