FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Wednesday to issue penalties for UIL rule violations.
Pasadena Dobie High School head baseball coach Miguel Torres was placed on two years probation, issued a public reprimand, and additional training for an ejection after making contact with an official.
The State Executive Committee also met for an emergency hearing due to the potential impact on the baseball playoffs. The committee upheld the District 32-6A Executive Committee’s ruling that found the Brownsville Rivera High School baseball team allowed an ineligible player to participate. It was determined that the school did not exercise sufficient diligence in determining the eligibility of the student-athlete. By rule, the minimum penalty for allowing an ineligible player to participate is forfeiture.
