FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX- One student athlete was granted eligibility for varsity athletics, while three other students will remain ineligible after decisions were handed down by the State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League Wednesday.

An appeal by a South San Antonio High School student athlete was granted by the State Executive Committee, overturning a previous ruling by the District 30-4A Executive Committee. The student will be eligible for varsity athletics for the remainder of the school year.

Conversely, the State Executive Committee denied eligibility appeals for student athletes from Cedar Park Vista Ridge High School and Conroe High School. Those students will remain ineligible for varsity athletics.

In other action, the State Executive Committee suspended Houston Aldine High School soccer coach Joe Lecureux from the first three soccer games of next season and upheld the mandatory penalty of a public reprimand and one-year probation for being suspended from a contest while on probation. Additionally, Dallas Faith Family Academy's previous penalty of a public reprimand issued by the District 14-A Executive Committee will stand.
