AUSTIN, TX- Two students' appeals for varsity athletic eligibility were granted and penalties were issued to coaches and schools by the State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League on Wednesday.
The State Executive Committee granted appeals from students from Conroe The Woodlands High School and Spring Branch Memorial High School to become eligible for varsity athletics.
Additionally, the State Executive Committee issued penalties to Corpus Christi Moody High School softball coach Paula Rodriguez for violation of UIL rules. Coach Rodriguez was issued a public reprimand, two years probation and a suspension from the first two softball games of the 2007 season. Moody High School was issued a public reprimand and two years probation for the same violations.
In other action, the following schools were issued a public reprimand and one year probation for late entries to One Act Play competitions:
